From Ruger Forum via The High Road, there’s a new Ruger auto pistol coming out in the next few days. Rumor has it it’s a polymer frame, and will initially be available in limited quantities of four guns per dealer.
UPDATE: There’s one for sale on GunsAmerica. No picture, but the name is given as the SR-9. No guarantees that that’s the final name. New rumored ship date is October 11.

Please let it be:
9mm
Single Stack, 7-8 rounds
2″ barrel.
I would be *there*.
Oh, also:
Crisp trigger
No internal lock, no safety or at least unobtrusive safety.
Psst. You got your links backwards. The Ruger Forum link goes to THR and vise versa.
Here’s to hoping they can put out a gun without a billboard on the damned thing: “Warning: This is a gun. It’s dangerous. Read the owner’s manual before operating. Maybe twice. Not suitable for children. Please don’t pick your nose with this device, that is not its intended purpose. Take care. — Ruger’s legal team.”
That said, I’m hoping they go the “tiny gun” route. Single-stack polymer framed 9mm. I’m not too impressed with Kel-Tec in this area (I’m put off by the trigger) and the Walther PPS looks nice, haven’t held one, but the MSRP alone makes me cringe. Ruger could make a solid entry into that market, doing it better than Kel-Tec (sorry guys!) and cheaper than Walther.
Might this be the SOCOM contract pistol that Ruger was rumored to be working on?
If so, I’d imagine it has a polymer frame, light rail, and 10-13 round capacity in .45 ACP.
@ Paul Simmer – I lol’d . Good one. I agree mostly. However, I hope Ruger offers the new gun in all 3 popular sizes – service, compact, and sub compact models. I say they should go head to head with Glock. I believe Rugers are just as reliable and will last just as long. If it comes in a compact 9mm, offering 13 rounds or above, it’ll definately be on my short list. Good luck, and good shooting?
