H&R Handi-Rifles

Dr. Strangegun just landed an H&R Handi-Rifle in .357 Magnum. I’ve got a bunch of .38 and .357 revolvers and I’ve always thought it would be cool to have a rifle in the same caliber.

The nice thing about the Handi-Rifles is that you can get extra barrels in other calibers and even shotgun gauges and swap out barrels with a screwdriver. Most are a hundred bucks or so, sometimes less. I got a deal a few years back on a Pardner Youth shotgun in .410 bore that I nicknamed Katrina. I could get a 12 or 20 gauge barrel for it for $44. There’s a complete list of barrels here.

I love the H&R Handi-Rifles – as the name suggests, they’re well, handy. I have one of their .410/.45 Colt “Survivor” rifles, with the fully rifled barrel. It also has a screw-in choke tube for using .410 shells (no slugs) and will accept the 3 inch magnum rounds. It’s a wonderful little gun, and plain fun to shoot.

Les, I just got a whislist email from budsgunshop.com that they managed to get another .357 handi-rifle in stock. Thought you might want to know.

Thanks, Mike. I’m currently in “only gonna buy semi-autos while Obama is in office” mode, but one day…

There are also MCA shotgun inserts for .38 Special, but not .357 Magnum, unfortunately.

Those shotgun inserts are pretty nifty, too.
