Knoxville News-Sentinel – Anti-crack bill: Legislator seeks to outlaw sagging pants:
NASHVILLE – Legislation to outlaw wearing pants that sag below the waistline was approved by a House subcommittee Wednesday despite one lawmaker’s protest that the move is an attempt to “legislate fashion.” Rep. Joe Towns, D-Memphis, said he proposed HB2083 after constituents complained of people – mostly youngsters – wearing their pants too low.
Goodness knows we wouldn’t want teenager’s pants to be slightly too low. I’m glad Tennessee’s legislators have stepped into the breech to protect society from this horrible scourge.

Someone will inevitably say it first: “When saggy pants are outlawed, only outlaws will have saggy pants.”
From what are the politicians trying to distract us?
-Mexican drug cartels (as if they haven’t been around for a long time).
-Saggy pants
-The BCS System
-AIG exec bonuses that amount to 1/1000th of their bailout money (that they shouldn’t have gotten in the first place)
These are distractions, or at least in a way I hope they are. If they are not, our politicians are too dumb to find something useful to be doing/discussing.
“pants that sag below the waistline”
What, no hiphuggers? Maybe “sag” is the more important word in the law?
What about other clothing styles that reveal flesh below the waistline? Bikinis? Thong swimsuits?
Where does the urge to police clothing choices end?
