Cheap CCI Blazer brass 9mm ammo at Wal-Mart

Saturday, April 11th, 2009 | Guns |

So I stopped by Wally World yesterday. I mentioned to my man L. that I had bought 100 rounds of 9mm for $30 at the Maryville gun show.

He and a customer there seemed incredulous. He pointed out that CCI Blazer brass 9mm was $9 per 50. Granted, it was practically the only centerfire pistol ammo they had on the shelves. (The others were .357 Magnum at $27/50 which I hadn’t seen in weeks, .25 Auto and .32 Auto, but they had it.) The other guy bought four boxes of it. I bought two boxes, which left two boxes.

L. said that Wal-Mart got ammo every night, of various calibers and various quantities.

Shhh! I’ve been buying them out any time I find them with some. I’m not the only one.

Some walmarts have been rationing ammo sales, which shows a serious misunderstanding of microeconomics…

I have a guy at work who has a second job at the sporting goods at our local Wally World.

He says check about 7:30/8:00 in the morning, as most are gone after the lunch rush.

Was at WW today. The ONLY bulk ammo they had was WWB .38 Special FMJ $29.97 + tax for 100 rnds. They had 6 boxes.

Was at a WW about 150 miles away 2 weeks ago and the ONLY bulk ammo they had was Winchester .22LR LHP 500 rounds for about $14 + tax. They had about 5 or 6 boxes.

At both stores the clerks said it is very hit and miss on ammo. They’ve gone for weeks or months at a time without getting restocked on bulk ammo.

The day I was there they didn’t even have bulk .22LR. I just see what they’ve got that day and get what I can. If they don’t have anything else I get shotgun slugs.

How much .32cal, 9mm, and 7.62×39 ammo should I have on hand?

I have been currying the net with a fine tooth comb for 9mm Luger, and so ar I have come up almost empty. Has anyone igured out WHY we can’t get 9 ? Is it another artifical shortage, like gas a few years ago ? Somehow I can’t see our troops bustin’ cap after cap from their sidearms, just so that we can’t get ammunition. It just doesn’t compute. .

People are worried about bans under Obama and worried about what happen in the next few years in general. Then you’ve got record gun sales and people buying ammo to go with their new gun.

Once you’ve got scarcity if often feeds on itself with people hoarding what’s scarce.

Bass Pro has Remington UMC in stock RIGHT NOW in 9mm. Too bad I just (back) ordered some Win SXZ last night, dang it! I would have just ordered the UMC if I had realized it was in stock.

The manufacturers of ammunition are the ones that are creating a false scare to trick you into buying. The curent administration is not going to revoke your right to have guns. But the companies that you trust so much are screwing our eyeballs out.We cuss and fuss at the oil companies and their high prices but place the blame for ammo shortages on the wrong person. Retailers and wholesalers are creating their own shortages out of greed.

No conspiracy theories needed. People are buying ammo. Ammo companies are making all they can without building more plants (which they don’t want to do, because the demand will go down eventually).
