You really think these are a good idea? Protest movements get defined by the goofy nuts on the fringe and loudmouth self-serving assholes — we had giant puppet heads & ANSWER and Michael Moore and Cynthia McKinney, you’ve got Birthers and Re-Oathers and Limbaugh* and Stacey Campfield. Encouraging them is just shooting yourself in the foot.
* less Limbaugh and more Dan Lacey.

Someone is speaking out for smaller government. I consider that a good thing.
Over at Knoxviews a long time ago I said that people who are in favor of small government have something in common with people in favor of gay marriage. They’re both constituencies without a party to represent them.
The Republicans took power in 2000 and started a spending spree. Now the Democrats are back in power and they’re on an even bigger spending spree. The tea party movement is already big enough that neither political party can ignore the message.
