Lots of good flash techniques require getting the flash off of the camera. I have a Nikon SB-400, which is a hotshoe flash with a tilt head for bouncing the flash. I may get a cord so I can move it off of the camera. If my next camera has wireless remote flash control I’ll replace the SB-400 with a bigger flash that I can trigger wirelessly.
