“True Blood”

Sunday, June 14th, 2009 | A&E |

or,

God It’s Good to be a Fangsta

We finished “The Wire” months ago, then “Lost” wrapped up for the season. Now we’ve got the first season of “True Blood” on DVD.

Melissa had seen a few episodes, but it was new to me. Last night I watched the first episode and liked it.

The story is that Japanese scientists have invented a synthetic blood substitute - True Blood - so that vampires no longer have to consume human blood. Freed from their bloodlust, they begin to reveal their true selves to humans. Some people despite them, others are fascinated by them (including “fang bangers” who seek out thrill sex with vampires - there was a generous helping of sex in the first episode).

The lead female character of Sookie Stackhouse is played by Anna Paquin, who played Rogue in the X-Men movies. I haven’t seen enough episodes to understand it yet, but she has some sort of ability to read people’s minds.

The second season premieres tonight on HBO. You can see the first season online for free at Watchtrueblood.net.

Any one else watching it?

Oh yeah… watching it. Inappropriate as it may be, my tv buddy is my 18-year old daughter so the sex scenes we kinda fast forward through. LOVE the show though! Fangbanger. Hah.

Oh yeah. We have a 3 and 4 year old. We wait until we put them in bed. If they get up we have to pause it.
