Rain barrel sale in Knoxville October 3rd
Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009 | East Tennessee, Home Life |
Cool. I’ve been wanting some rain barrels. The ones in the pics have brass spigots at the bottom. I’ve got a couple of places where I could put these below downspouts and attach a regular hose or soaker hose to the spigots to water dry areas.
Capacity is 80 gallons. Price is $40, which seems reasonable. Cash or check only.

That’s a pretty good deal, even though the manufacturer website only shows a 55 gallon version:

We bought a rain barrel for half price on “Earth Day” through Amazon.com with free delivery and I’m surprised at how quickly it fills up from a rain storm and how much water pressure I get for the first half of the barrel. I can fill up a watering can easily. I might just swing by and purchase a few of these for the back of our house. Remember to bring them in for the winter.

I read a Web page once that showed how to calculate how much water you’d collect for a given size of roof. It was amazing how much water you could collect with even a mild rain.
Didn’t know about bringing them in for the winter. Thanks.

They’re 33 inches in diameter and 33 inches tall, if that helps.
