Copper cellar on the strip serves a 4.99 hamburger and fries every wednesday. It’s not the very best burger i’ve ever had, but it is pretty damn good - definitely the best burger i’ve had for 4.99. Also check out their $0.99 draft beers everyday after 9pm - served in 12oz portions instead of the usual 16-18oz but it’s a still a great deal.

When I was in high school, Five Guys was unbeatable. However, that’s when there was just the one nearby in Arlington, and that one was just a take-out place. Back then, the burgers literally felt like they were just dissolving in your mouth.

I’m not sure if franchising pulled them down over the years, or if they just started using leaner meat. Either way, it’s not terribly hard for a non-chain to beat them anymore.

Best burger in the world used to be Mountain Momma’s down the gravel road from the gap on the north end of the Smokey Mountains while hiking the AT. Since Mountain Momma’s is closed, the next best burger in the world is at the Doyle Hotel in Duncannon, Pa.

Melissa wanted to go so I took her there tonight. This time I had the Bacon BBQ Burger. Delicious, even if the Rocky Burger the first time was better. The burgers are messy - I’ll bet I used five napkins both times - but damned tasty.

P.S. The fries are delicious, if a little bit salty.
