Movie: “Shutter Island”

Saw it opening night and loved it. Great acting, great scenery. The camera work is amazing – it’s worth paying to see it in the theater to take it all in. Scorsese uses a particular motif – dream scenes filled with falling paper, leaves, or ash – to tremendous effect.

The previews make Shutter Island look like a horror movie. It has some horror elements, with people jumping out of the dark and such, but it’s really a psychothriller with plenty of action and a hurricane that provides the dramatic backdrop.

P.S. – If you haven’t seen the movie or read the book then whatever you do don’t read the Wikipedia entry. Does Wikipedia not do spoiler alerts?

No, they don’t. They’ll even chide people for even suggesting spoiler alerts.

If I hadn’t already seen the movie I would have been PO’ed – they give away the ending in the first sentence of the third paragraph.

Once upon a time wikipedia used spoiler alerts, but then it became a big issue about how long they should stay up for(international releases, DVD etc.), which articles really needed them, etc. So in the end they just got rid of them entirely.
