Millennium Manor Open House on Memorial Day

mm03.h3.jpgMillennium Manor, Alcoa’s apocalyptic stone castle, will have an open house on Memorial Day, Monday May 31. Admission is free. Donations are welcome. Millennium Manor is located at 500 N. Wright Road.

Owner Dean Fontaine emailed me to confirm this year’s open house

Having the open house again, and this year we have artillary! I’ve got a big brass cannon that can shoot a 3 lbs. ball about a mile.

Good times.

P.S. A company contacted me a few weeks ago to get permission to use some of my photos from last year for their series of postcards on obscure American landmarks. I’m supposed to receive a copy after they go to the printer.

Could the postcard offer be construed as a serious compliment on your photography skills? Or more of a coincidence of having photographed the appropriately obscure locations?

I’ve had my photos published before. Some of them were with what I’d consider a pretty primitive point and shoot by today’s standards, and I took them back when I didn’t know much photography.

I think it’s less about my skills and more about being at the right place at the right time taking pictures, and then having them on the Internet where they can be easily found.
