After the Red Team lost in the bow and arrow shootout, Brad and Bill got voted to the elimination round, which used crossbows. Brad barely scraped by, sending Bill home.
Brad doesn’t have many friends left, as the lunch scene at the card table showed. Even my wife was like “I can’t stand to listen to him whine anymore.” (BTW, she isn’t into guns, but she likes “Topshot.” I think this show is going to get people more interested in shooting.)
How Bill wound up at the showdown was another story. He wasn’t able to beat J.J. in the contest, but no one else did, either. What really seemed to get him voted out was his outspoken contempt for Kelly.
For anyone who didn’t see it, Bill mentioned to Kelly that his ex-wife’s fiance just shot himself in the chest. Kelly’s response? “Wow, was she that bad?” Ouch. In the elimination Bill voted for Kelly and Kelly voted for Bill, tying Bill and Andre. Denny cast the deciding vote for Bill.
I’m of two minds about Bill. Early in the episode I decided I wouldn’t mind seeing him go, just because he and Kelly had irreconcilable problems and I like Kelly.
At one point during the elimination phase a poll flashed onscreen showing who viewers wanted to see leave the show. The results were 49% Bill and 51% Brad. That seems a little unfair to Bill. Brad’s whining and lack of team play justifies him leaving the show. Bill was just pissed at Kelly and to a degree Kelly deserved it for the stupid, thoughtless thing he said, but other than that Bill conducted himself well. It’s a shame that one reckless comment can cause such a rift.
To his credit, Brad has survived two elimination contests, though by the skin of his teeth. Last week he and Frank tied and had to go into overtime. This week Bill was a few seconds away from making the shot that could have won it. Brad has to be feeling the pressure.
LATER: Via Caleb’s Facebook, some bonus, behind-the-scenes coverage from History Channel. Haven’t watched it. I’ll check it out tonight after work.

While I can understand Bill’s point with Kelly how many stupid insensitive things did he say when 22? I am willing to bet if you were able to go back he probably did say some things that could rub people the wrong way.
Also the frustration of 3 losses doesn’t help.
.-= Nathan ´s last blog ..Quite the Mercy Rule =-.
Also bear in mind that we never got to hear the context of the conversation where Kelly said that. How Bill described the situation in the first place would have a lot to do with someone feeling like it was okay to crack a joke about it.
Besides, it’s one thing to be upset with someone. It’s another to hold onto it to that degree for days.
Without even see what made Bill mad his whining about it made me want him to leave. “Radio host, firearms enthusiast”…inflated ego and mediochre skills. He complained ab that comment to the blue team and even they were able to understand that Bill was being too much of a baby.
I was ready for Brad to go, but Bill easily made me cheer for Brad in the challenge.
Btw…you’re blog is the first place that I found that actually has Kelly’s faux-pas posted
Yikes-oops on my grammar. Blackberry screen early am in a hotel room. Mea culpa.

While Bill seem like a nice guy, his organizing against Kelly seems a bit petty. I’ve met some charismatic individuals who use their power to exclude and ostracize unpopular people. Bill reminds me too much of these “queen bees”.
I am glad Bill is gone. He would not accept Kelly’s apology and would not even speak to him. Yet, he was OK to complain to everyone that would listen about how much he hated Kelly. What a child.
Ive only been able to see one episode and what a good one. Bill is an absolute baby. Kelly makes a bad joke trying to be funny and impress someone he admires and then tries to apologize. Bill made a comment that he didnt like the man Kelly was becoming. The true tragedy is the man that Bill actually is. Kelly is a better man at 22 than Bill could ever be in his 50s.
OK, so I got sucked into watching this last night when every man in my family had their eyeballs glued to the screen watching it. About 15 minutes into the show I was begging, no pleading for Bill to get eliminated. For goodness sake Bill, get your big boy panties on! So someone made a stupid comment about your “ex” wife (and after watching you rant and rave I can sure understand why she’s an ex..she probably ran for the hills) His over the top indignation about Kelly showed Bill to be the big baby that he is. Agree with Red…Kelly is the better man and contestant.

bill is a total tool, he’s trying to talk smack on kelley about being immature for saying one of the funniest comments ive ever heard about an ex wife, and then cries like a high school girl about someone making a joke about his ex, thats a good way to turn your current wife into an ex, he says he doesnt like the man kelley is becoming, yet at a young age kelley has already figured out how to confront problems and try and put them in the past, something bill whos twice his age still hasnt figured out
Bill is a sad loser and his radio show is about to be cancelled because of his unsportsmanlike behavior on Top Shot.
Go Kelly! You’re a good man and a skilled marksman.
