News > Just Call Janet Jackson "Nip"

During the Super Bowl half time show, Justin Timberlake tore off part of Janet Jackson's outfit. Her breast popped out, exposing either her nipple (according to Melissa) or a pastie (according to me). Which was it?

We were Tivoing the game, so we watched the clip a couple of times and even paused it, but we still disagreed. The costume-ripping looked intentional to me.

P.S. Go Panthers! Screw the Patriots. They've played dirty.

LATER: Here's a picture. It was a pastie. Do I know female anatomy or what?

LATER LATER: I'm convinced the clothes-tearing was intentional, because Timberlake not only tore off the fabric, he held onto it, as seen in this picture. Melissa had a good counter-point, though. She thinks Timberlake was supposed to tear off the cup (the black part) of Jackson's outfit, while leaving behind the bra (the red part).

That makes sense. It would square with the fact that Timberlake intentionally tore the clothes and that Jackson expected it. It also squares with another photo that shows Jackson covering her breast and Timberlake looking sheepish.

I can't believe that a TV executive approved of exposing a female breast, even with a pastie. On the other hand, I can believe that a TV executive approved exposing a bra.

CBS, which broadcast the Super Bowl, has apologized for the incident. MTV produced the half time show, and CBS claims that rehearsals did not indicate such a thing woud happen.

It was a pasty. http://www.bootsandsabers.com/archives/001961.html

It wasn't a pasty, it looked like it was being held in place by a piercing.

Can't wait to see who tries to top this at the Grammy Awards next week...

Wasn't a pastie. Drudge had a closeup. It was some metal sunburst nipple ring thing, which left the actual nipple exposed.

I just looked at the Drudge close-up. I thought before that it was covering the pastie, but the nipple is definitely exposed.

Also, I've had more time to think about Melissa's theory about the bra, and I don't think it's right. A bra cup wouldn't tear off that easily. This whole thing was intentional.

This picture seems to indicate that one of the top snaps was already undone:

Aren't you glad JJ listened when Mama Jackson warned her, "Before you go out in public, always be sure you're wearing your clean pasties!"

Posted by: terminalMan at February 02, 2004

Its not a pastie its a nipple pirceing and the jewlery is called a nipple sheild. Look it up I think the starbirst one like that would be easy to find.

I just wanted to add one thing. Big deal nudity is not that big of a deal its just that for some reason in this country eavryone considers it wrong.

Posted by: Super Gimp at February 03, 2004

Super Gimp: there's a time and a place for everything. I personally love female nudity, but some people don't, and some people who find it acceptable for themselves don't want their kids to see it. The half time show of the Super Bowl was just the wrong place for it.

Imagine the fun if he had ripped her breast right off? lol
I wasn't offended at and the fact that I loathe the whole SuperDull halftime show mania made this one much more tolerable. I questioned my wife, "Was that her boob that we just saw?"
I wonder what the likely child molestor wierdo MJ thinks of the whole incident.
What a joke.

Definitely a piercing as depicted here: http://masturbateforpeace.com/superbowl.html and definiteley meant to come off...the snaps are highly visible.

definaltlly a pastie. i didnt see it but @ work we all talked about it enough!

Posted by: rebbeca at February 03, 2004

Perhaps Justin was being honest.. It was a costume failure.. When you understand it was choreographed, then perhaps the whole costume was supposed to come off.. The last line of the song, was not about, leave your boob showing, it was leave you naked....

whoever thinks the red piece is a seperate piece from the black cover... YOU'RE AN IDIOT!!!!!!!

and yes the stunt was done intentionally, and yes the top button was undone - otherwise justin would not have pulled off the cup so easily and quickly! and i do believe it was a small stunt to get attention away from janet's brother (the main dumb ass of the family - michael). and damn is her face blacker than the rest of her body.. geez!!!

ps: it's just a boob!!! my god everyone is offended by every little thing they see today!!! her boob showing alone made this the best superbowl half-time i ever saw in football history (besides the cowboy's cheerleaders). give it a rest already... a boob is a boob (fatty tissue covered by skin), like we haven't all seen and felt a boob before - sheesh! if you haven't, then yer a sad person and should be happy to finally see one!!!

Posted by: tombai at February 05, 2004

one last note...

it's niether a pasty or pierce.. she has had that nipple pierced b4 - the pin itself is pierce, the star is being held in place behind the pin.. is it not that obvious???

Hey, does anyone care that we won the Super Bowl? On a last-play field goal?

The game was a classic!!!

Shit, over-shadowed by one tit...
