February 04, 2004Seventies > Did You Grow up in the '70s?SayUncle bought a collection of Schoolhouse Rock cartoons, and now all of us Gen Xers are over there reminiscing. Come join the fun. Bonus points if you remember the Land of the Lost theme song.
Marshall, Will and Holly More bonus points if you can name all of the Herculoids, or the names of all of the characters on Thundaar the Barbarian and at least two of the show's bad guys. Or name five lame cartoon sidekicks designed to appeal to little bitty kids. For instance, Scrappy-Doo and Godzuki. LATER: Drake got the Thundaar points. As far as the five sidekicks, there's Godzuki for Godzilla, Scrappy Doo for Scooby Doo, Batmite for Batman, Gleek for the Super Friends, Robby the Robot on the Fantastic Four, and the bouncy booh things on the Herculoids. Well I do remember Okla the Mok and Princess Ariel. I remember the villian with the two faces and the big race with the scorpion looking robot. You know, by the calculations in Thundarr's world, the comet tore the moon apart almost 7 years ago. Posted by: Drake at February 04, 2004You nailed it. The guy with two faces was Gemini. I wish I could do the Thundaar "aahhhhh eeeeee!" yell. Posted by: Les Jones at February 04, 2004Some of my favorite 70s shows were Ark II, Bigfoot and Wildboy, Run Joe Run and last but not least, Electra Woman and Dyna Girl. Unlike many of our Saturday morning heros who fell off the face of the Earth, Dyna Girl went on to a promising career in - erm - "film". Posted by: Chris Range at February 05, 2004Ark II ruled. They had a space-age RV, an EVA vehicle, a laser, a jet pack, and a monkey. Ark II and Land of the Lost both had some pretty high-minded sci-fi themes. One episode of Ark II involved a domed city that was paradise. They had everything they needed, no one had to work, and they all had perfect health and long lives. To make the energy for the city, though, they had to use an energy source that polluted the area around the city, and shortened those people's lives. In the end the people of the domed city destroyed their energy source to save the people on the outside. Posted by: Les Jones at February 05, 2004TO Les Jones,My name is Mr.KellySaige,I have been a long time ARKII fan and so much so that Im currently working to build a mobile store house of scientific knowlage vehicle. As a young teen growing up in the 70's was pretty cool because of all the things that was there at the time.Saturday morning tv shows was really good and had a broad appeal to many people.I liked Filmation shows and the top show was ARKII.I personally was a devoted fan of the show and my dad thought I was oppsessed in the show to much.Try talking to a Naval Engineer about a show like that and their responce might be your living in a dream world.I didnt care and I decieded one day in the early 80's that I was going to get in reach of the actors on ARKII.Well I did and I was able to reach Jose Flores and he was surprised how I was able to get in reach of him.I told him I took my chance and did alittle calling around and found him. He's a real nice guy and helpful. He and I used to call back and forth alot and he told me that he didnt meet to many people so devoted to ARKII.I was and still to this day.The show really opened my mind up to science and technology.I have wanted for along time to have a special vehicle like ARKII and use it to benefit people and the world.ARKII had unsually feelings that it portrade and strong messages about how were all living right now because if man doesnt change his direction the World of ARKII will surely happen.Filmation Was trying to get rid of ARKII in the early eighties after building the vehicle. It cost Filmation in the mid 70's one and hafe million dollars to build ARKII for the show.I almost was able to get this vehicle just a day late.I talked with several people that had it and they told me its to bad because they would have just given it to me and to pick it up in California.Anyway JoseFlores played Samuel on ARKII and the information he told about ARKII was interesting.TerryLester Died of two large heart attacts.I'll certainly miss him and so will alot of others out their.ARKII was one show that young viewers wanted to see more of.Jose/Samuel told me that their was plans to make a movie of ARKII but that fizzled out.If anyone wants to talk to me about ARKII or start a club on ARKII and Filmation let me know,Dont be nervous in reaching me.I can be contacted at KellySaige@aol.com.By mail Send to Mr.KellySaige 2231 White Cornus Ln,Reston Va 20191.Thankyou and have a ARKII nice day.
