Blogging > Wintery Mix of Non-blogging

snowflake.jpgHad a little emergency tonight, which turned out fine, no big deal. But by the time I got out of that and picked up milk, bread, and driveway salt on the way home it was almost midnight.

So, no free ice cream today, unless this storm hits and hits hard, in which case I may get to stay home and make some free snow cream.

Bright spot of the night: asking "Where's Candy? The person, not the delicious treat." And then telling Da Goddess's joke.

Hey. A snowstorm that ISN'T hitting us. Yippee. Looks like spring has pretty well settled in up here. We went a month and a half or so with only a couple of days where the high was above the 20s -- the Potomac was frozen over pretty solidly for several weeks-- but the last month has been more or less warm and pleasant,

Last year really sucked, though. When I visited Terri in February, you couldn't see the street sign at the bottom of our street because it was covered up by a big pile of snow. And we didn't have a spring at all -- it was cold and snowy/rainy all the way up to the end of May, at which point it all of a sudden got hot and humid, and the pile of snow finally melted for good.

The time you and I went to DC for New Year's I thought it was damned cold.

When Melissa took a job in Illinois a couple years ago everyone told her how bad it was going to be. The one winter she was there was the warmest in like 15 years. Totally lucked out.

The storm here started later than expected. There's just a couple inches on the ground right now, but it's still coming down. I may get to go home this afternoon.

I want to know who the heck decided Washington was "southern", anyway.

No wonder what's his name (Taylor?) got sick from giving a five hour inaugural address and then died weeks into his presidency.

The snow here is just about over. We got three or four inches, but it's melting quickly.
