Guns > Thursday Gun Links #17

Discontinuing the fine tradition of blogging from the future, SayUncle here with this week's gun links.

First, a trip around the gun blog world:

  • I address the anti-gunners eliciting questionable weapons transfers here and here.

  • Kevin addresses why you should pay attention to where you shoot.

  • Jeff has the weekly check on the bias.

  • Publicola warns of a ban on 50 Calibers.

  • James reviews the Springfield XD in 357 Sig.

  • Lots of stuff at the Shooters' Carnival. Go and read.

  • The Trainer discusses his new Walther P22.

Next up are some nifty new toys and other miscellany:

  • D&L Sports series of rifles look amazing. Al Paulson recently opined of the 300 Remington Ultra Magnum that Hit probability can reach 85 percent on a small humanoid target at 2,000 yards.

  • The gun zone has a report of a severe catastrophic failure caused by bad ammo. Be careful when buying reloaded ammo. In fact, I recommend that you don't.

  • Build it and they will come: Details of a receiver for the Ruger 10/22 that is built for three calibers (22LR, 22 Magnum, and 17 HMR).

  • No day is complete without some high quality gun porn. With that in mind, the posters at AR15.com have posted their collections. Good stuff.

  • The military is considering adopting 6.8MM round. The strategy page has a piece on the round and some comparisons.

  • The strategy page also has a look at the gun that will fire the new round:

  • One last item, need a gun safe? Have a vending machine laying around? Who doesn't? Use this handy guide to convert that Coke machine into a gun safe.

Thanks for reading and I hope that I met Les' expectations.

You did great. I wish Ruger would make that 10/xx gun with the built-in rail. I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

Yeah, just some guy out of his chop building it. HEck, buy one. 10/22s are easy as heck to work on.

    I've got a .22LR semi-auto rifle, or I would. I don't have a .22WMR or a .17HMR, though, so I could justify buying a new gun that shot all three. :-)
