So Julia Roberts is reportedly nine weeks pregnant with twins - one boy and one girl. Question - how do they know? Ultrasound can't determine sex at that stage. I thought she might have had an amniocentesis, but Melissa says it too early for that, too.

Thats great that Julia had healthy twins. I'm pregnant with twins also.. but, who cares right? I am a nobody.

Congrats to Julia. I had my first baby in October of 04 I know how much I enjoy being a mommy, I hope you do too. Anyways they really do grow up so fast so enjoy every second of their tiny little lives.

I was excited to hear Julia was pregnant with twins. I also was pregnant with boy and girl twins while she was pregnant, I delivered a few days prior to her delivery. Twins are an amazing gift. Congratulations to all pregnant and who have twins!

Did anyone answer your question about knowing the genders so quickly? There IS an early way to determine chromosomes - chorionic villous sampling, done at around that gestational age. If she knew, I assume she had the CVS procedure. I can't imagine doing it with twins because of potential risk of losing the pregnancy, but however she did it, glad they made it out all right! (it's now June 2005)
