News > Illinois General Assembly Overrides Governor's Veto

The Illinois house passed an override to the governor's veto on the same bill the Illinois Senate passed last week.

Passed by wide margins in both chambers earlier this year, SB2165 is designed to protect homeowners from prosecution under local gun control laws should they use a firearm to protect their homes and families from intruders. Bowing to pressure from Chicago gun control groups, Blagojevich vetoed the bill this past summer.
