Both the Glock and the 1911 are firearms designed by governments.

the 1911 while a good weapon, for something designed nearly 100 years ago, has one shortcoming. It comes in 1 size only, large. (Don't point out the compact versions, all 1911's have a large grip, unsuitable for many people.)

The other problem the 1911 has is that if fires a large, slow-moving bullet, as opposed to smaller, faster bullet. This is fine if you are limited by the Geneva convention to using FMJ rounds, otherwise it makes little sense today.

The Glock while a fine weapon, has no aesthetic appeal.

(In other words, a plaque on both your houses!)
