Military Surplus

  • SurplusRifle - Building a scout rifle out of an M44 Mosin-Nagant rifle.
  • Head's Bunker - You've probably read the blog, but have you read his reviews page? Almost all of the guns are milsurp, with a heavy accent on Communist bloc guns. He has a new series showing how to build an AKM. Part 1. Part 2.
  • techsight100.jpgSurplusRifle - Review of the Tech Sights receiver-mounted aperture sight for the SKS. For $45, this looks like a deal. Permanent modification of the rifle might be required if you can't remove the receiver locking pin. You can follow the instructions in the review to see if your pin will come out.
  • The Ten Ring - The Mosin-Nagant revolver.
  • The High Road - Swiss K31 range report.
  • The High Road - Swiss K31 Scout rifle project.
  • The High Road - Which milsurp rifle?
  • SayUncle - Range report on the Romanian WASR-10 AK.
  • Heartless Libertarian - Another WASR-10 for Buy a Gun Day.
  • Kim du Toit - Mosin-Nagant M44 Range Report

Yesterday's News Today

I didn't post last week, so I got behind on the shooting in Texas, but here are a couple of great links.

  • SayUncle - David Hernandez Arroyo shot several people at a courthouse in Texas. A Texan named Mark Wilson was present and heard the shots. Wilson, who has a concealed carry permit, drew his gun and attacked Arroyo. Arroyo was wearing armor and killed Wilson, but Wilson's sacrifice saved at least one person's life.
  • Geekwitha45 - Pictures of the Wilson memorial service and Tyler, Texas.

Gun Pic of the Week

This is Head's Chinese Dragunov. Another outstanding picture from Head's Bunker.

Excellent weapon LJ. I have had the privelage of firing this weapon. It has a very similar gas system as the AK weapons, which I am very familiar. There is nothing like the sound of dancing machine guns...........
