Pen Island wound up with an unfortunate domain name. I usually tell people not to use hyphens in their domains, but it would have helped there. It sure helped Experts Exchange, whose unhyphenated name gave some people the impression they offered professional gender reassignment.
If you do buy a hyphenated domain, be sure to buy the unhyphenated version, or else a competitor may register it and siphon away customers who type the URL sans hyphen.
