Blogging > I'll Be at Blog Nashville in May

I'm registered for Blog Nashville. Here's the list of registrants. There are lots of people I'm looking forward to meeting. And also Oliver Willis.

Melissa finishes her tests a few days before, so we're going to make a four day weekend out of it. I'll probably skip everything except the Saturday sessions so Melissa and I can spend time around the city.

Any suggestions on what to do in Nashville? A trip to Printer's Alley and a place like the Blue Bird Cafe is definitely on the itinerary.

UPDATE: Another question. Chris Wage is in Nashville, which I didn't know. Who else lives in the Nashville area? Maybe we can have a Rocky Top Brigade meetup Friday night.

I have to say that I would love to meet all of the various bloggers but I am not sure I have much interest in attending the actual conference.

Printer's alley is not really all it's cracked up to be these days.. There's a decent blues bar and a disgusting strip club.

If you want to have fun, hit the honkytonks on broadway. I'll buy you a beer.

I was there in November. A simple city tour is nice especially if you go to Ryman Auditorium, Parthenon, Music Row, etc. But my favorite was visiting the Civil War battleground in Franklin, starting with the Carter House and moving to Carnton plantation. Outstanding tour guides, minimum cost, great history.

Maybe I should go. Sounds fun. Plus, there's some bloggers I want to kick in the nutz.

We could ride together too.

Remind me to wear a cup..

Chris: I hope I can take you up on that beer. Is the Blue Bird on Broadway? The last time I stumbled around Nashville I remember the Blue Bird and a bunch of interesting dives.

Uncle: It would be cool if you could go. Melissa and I will probably go to Nashville on Thursday and stay through Sunday, so I don't know if carpooling will work.

No, the Bluebird is out in green hills on Hillsboro (southwest of town), so it's a bit of a drive out there..

If you like Bluegrass, I'd highly recommend checking out the Station Inn on 12th, which is closer to downtown (I am assuming the conference is downtown?)

A gettogether on Friday sounds fun, I dunno who else in Nashville would want to go.. Blake from nashvillefiles is here in Nashville, and uh.. Bill Hobbs

It must not be the Blue Bird I'm thinking of then. It was downtown, in walking distance of Printer's Alley as I recall, and the Gaylord building was down there. Lots of clubs and bars. I went to some Irish pub.

Conference is at Belmont. Not sure where that is WRT downtown or Nashville in general.

Ah, okay.. Belmont is down the street from my place, actually -- my girlfriend is a recent graduate.. It's about 2 miles from downtown.. not far at all..

Looks like Mr Roboto over at TNF has been employed to entertain Friday night so maybe we can just all show up at whatever that is..

Posted by: Chris Wage at April 07, 2005

I have been enlisted to help organize the Friday night stuff, and we're finalizing those plans now. Friday night is supposed to be an organized party for everyone.

Saturday is going to be a "do it yourself" night, but with suggested itineraries (to be posted in the next week or so), of which the Broadway honkey tonks will be a big part. If you check back to the BlogNash site or TNF, you'll find more info within the week.

Domi Arigato, Mr. Roboto.

(I know you've heard that before, but I wasn't going to pass up the chance to say it. :-)
