Political Survival Kit > First Man Knocked Out of the 2008 Election: Bill Frist

vert.frist.newser.ap.jpgJim Geraghty explains why even Republicans don't like Frist. Besides, even if he ran and won his party's nomination he'd lose the election because of William Burton's Rule for picking presidential winners: "See who looks most like a funeral director, and bet against him."

Heck, that picture to the right looks like a funeral director's convention.

I agree 100% about Frist's unsuitability, but, while Republicans and Democrats alike assume that he couldn't possible receive the nomination, I wouldn't be so sure.

He is clearly courting the "New Life" dominionist crowd, and they are politically powerful. Great organizers and fund-raisers. They know the buttons to push to rally other evangelicals to a particular candidate if needed.

If GOP moderates are at all concerned about the Fristification of their party, they had better start working on the alternative.

The dominionists - weren't they the bad aliens on Deep Space Nine?

I'm really not worried about Frist. He's the GOP version of Al Gore, charisma-wise.

Heh, I was thinking that the other day.

Gore was wooden. Frist is more like a cave fish in rigor mortis.
