Dear Lazyweb,

Melissa and I are big fans of the Law and Order series, but the Criminal Intent imprint is our least favorite, so we hadn't watched it in a long time. We tuned in tonight and the captain is wearing an eye patch. Obviously we missed an important episode. What's the story behind the eye patch?

The actor who plays the captain wears it in real life because he has developed Bell's Palsy. The producers wrote it into the show.

From what I understand, the captain has developed Bell's Palsy too. Here's a link to the info. It's listed with episode 86.
