Star Wars > II Days to Episode III

Roman numerals make movies funner, eh? It's like that day in fourth grade when you learned Roman numerals - best day ever, right?

I moved all of my Star Wars posts into their own category for easier browsing. Here's a sample of the best stuff.

  • Notes on the Empire Strikes Back - Written after watching the DVD boxed set from end to end. Sample incredibly insightful commentary: "Luke Skywalker turns out pretty well for an orphan farmboy who dropped out of Jedi school." And that's just the beginning!
  • That last line is actually the thing that struck me about re-watching these movies back to back as a grown man with a wife and a kid. Luke's life was really rough, what with his father figures dying left and right hours after he meets them (jinx!), and the only woman in the script turning out to be his sister. That led, oddly enough, to an (attempted?) comedy piece called Luke Skywalker: a One-man Play Performed by Cletis.
  • Wardrobe Malfunctions in Star Wars. Take Star Wars dialog and substitute the word pants. "The more you tighten your grip, Tarkin, the more my pants slip through your fingers." Fun for kids age 3 to 103.
  • The Pussification of the Star Wars Jedi. The most popular Star Wars post on the site. This email exchange between Chris Range and me bitches about Lucas' ongoing wimpification of the Jedi.
