First quarter results were posted Friday. Once again e-commerce is growing rapidly, but is still a tiny percentage of the total retail sector. The potential for e-commerce growth is enormous.
The first quarter 2005 e-commerce estimate increased 23.8 percent (±3.3%) from the first quarter of 2004 while total retail sales increased 6.3 percent (±0.5%) in the same period. E-commerce sales in the first quarter of 2005 accounted for 2.3 percent of total sales.
