Passing along a message from JustLisa. I've pitched in. We're about halfway to the goal.

I have never asked my friends for money before but this is so very important to me. I am trying to help a family friend realize her dream of going to Brazil as a foreign exchange student. She has a lot of time, energy and money invested in this and it's come down to a plane ticket and a few small necessitites. Awesome experiences are pretty hard to come by for any kid nowadays, especially one from Small Town USA. I don't have enough money to make this happen for her but I do have some and great friends who I know will do their best to help as well.
