I couldn't find anything about how to turn my LG phone to silent until my boss (who had an older LG phone) told me about the holding-down-star trick. The manual doesn't say a thing about it... Really annoying.

Daughter was playin with my phone n got it stuck on manner mode. This is the first article I found on it n quickly solved my issue. THANKS

I searched on the erizon site and no mention of the Manner Mode. So before taking in to have them fix at the verizon store. I thought I would search on-line. Yours was the first result that was not a verizon site. I tried and worked perfectly. Once again thanks for sharing this info, it is really appreciated. :-)

Manner mode gets turned on by holding in the Ringer button for a few seconds. Mine always seems to get stuck on Manner Mode after being in my purse! Holding this button in will also remove Manner Mode. This only seems to work though when the flip phone is closed.

Debbie: I tried it and you're right! The small button on the side of the phone activates Manner Mode if I press it for a few seconds. Pressing and holding again activates Silence All. Pressing and holding one more time activates Normal Mode.

This is on an LG VX6000.

Why the hell do the idiots who design these phones think we need hidden controls that make you want to smash your new phone into molecules? 'Manner mode', what a joke! Just turn down your volume and you're done.

I found your article and it helped me so much!! I actually have a US Cellular Samsung phone. My kids got my phone stuck in what they call silent mode. On my phone it was the pound key to hold down, but this gave me the idea to try it..Thanks so much!!

This is priceless! My phone also went mysteriously to manner mode. It's been puzzling me for months. Now, I know how to put it on ring again; and I also know how to silence it in case I ever get kidnapped.

THANK YOU! AND GOOGLE TOO! I TOO WAS ABOUT TO THROW THE PHONE ON THE FLOOR AND STOMP ON IT. I HAVE BEEN MISSING CALLS FOR DAYS. THIS IS SOMEONE ELSE'S OLD PHONE THAT I AM TEMPORARILY USING UNTIL MY CONTRACT IS UP. I NEEDED TO SET MY ALARM TONIGHT TO GET UP EARLY IN THE MORNING. YOU SAVED ME!!!!

Searched for "Manner Mode" + LG in Google and found this forum. No more Manner Mode! Also found out that if the ringer volume button on the left side of the phone is held down for a few seconds(with the lid closed), this will toggle the Manner Mode. This must be the explanation as to why my wife keeps setting the phone in Manner Mode when the phone is in her purse. Also the small button below the ringer volume on the left side of the phone toggles "Driving Mode". Pretty lousy phone design in my opinion.

Thank you! Have been missing my calls for a week now ... even got into an argument with hubby over it. He said he called me to pick him up at the auto repair shop ... I said the phone never rang and I had it with me. "Manner Mode" my eye!
