e-Postal Match #4

Targets-05-11-12-thumb.JPGI shot Mr. Completely's e-postal match last night after work and scored a 65. I wound up hitting several of the circles more than once. The rules say only the first hit counts, so the extra hits were wasted shots. You can only shoot the match once per gun, so I'm going to go back with my .357 to try a new strategy. Rules and targets at Mr. Completely's. The deadline for turning in your targets is November 21.

LATER: Mr. Completely has loosened up the rules. You can now shoot the target multiple times with the same gun, but you can only submit one target for that gun.

jwz on the San Fran H-gun Ban

(If you've never read jwz, you ought to browse his site. Preferably while not at work.) jwz has criticism for a certain kind of gun nut, but concludes:

But after watching the Libertarian hootenanny that New Orleans turned into, I actually started considering whether owning one might not be such a bad idea, living as I am in a place that's prone to both earthquakes and zombie attacks.

Then, of course, the morons who live in this town went and voted to outlaw handguns. It's ineffective, unenforcable, and probably Unconstitutional, but wow, it sure is irritating.

And look! He has a poll.

Who's more annoying:

- Gun nuts. 228 (45.7%)
- Anti-gun nuts. 271 (54.3%)

The Second Amendment guarantees your right to:

- duck hunting. 71 (14.2%)
- violently overthrow the U.S. Government. 348 (69.6%)
- love a man in uniform. 81 (16.2%)

Les,
The latest match is actually two matches in one, and you can shoot with the same gun twice, only once at 10 yds offhand, and once at 50yds from a rest. I went out this afternoon and shot a rimfire target at 50yds, and a .38 iron sight wheelgun at 50yds. With the revolver I was just trying to lob them onto the paper, and hope for the best. Couldn't see the dots at all at 50 yds....

You're right, I forgot about the 50 yard option. The indoor range I shoot at is only 25 yards, though, so it's just once for me. Thanks for running these contests. Lots of fun.

I am suspending the rule restricting you to only one try at the target with any particular gun.

The target is challenging, and after having shot it once, most of you would be left wanting another crack at it, so I have removed the restriction.

You can shoot as many targets as you like, but you can only ENTER one target per Division/Class entry.

If you want to try it at 25yds, from a rest, have at it. I think I'll give that a try too. I'll just post the scores separate from the 50 yard scores.

I've added a third match division of 25 yards, bench rest, any sights.
