November 26, 2005Middle East > Urban Legends About the Iraq WarFrom The American Enterprise. Excellent rebuttals to the usual talking points. Posted by lesjones | TrackBackComments
Cheesy rebuttals to selected talking points conveniently worded so as to be easily dismissed, with no explanation for the creation of the Office of Special Plans or its role in distorting intelligence on Iraq and no explanation for the creation and functioning of the White House Iraq Group. Where is the defense of Donald Rumsfeld's "we know where they are" statement about WMDs? Where is the defense of Cheney and Rumsfeld and Rice using the spectre of a mushroom could when every intelligence report showed Iraq was years from being able to enrich uranium, much less detonate it or launch any type of payload more than a few hundred miles? That page is just watery excuses for those who lack the courage for a true reckoning with how Bush sold us on a war whose costs greatly exceed its benefits. It's drivel for the easily pacified.
