Johnia Berry > New Blog: "Find Johnia Berry's Killer"

johnia-sgitm-small.jpgOver the past year I've been posting about Johnia Berry, the 21 year old UT student who was killed in her Cedar Bluff apartment. Last month I read Ellen Mallarnee's article in Metro Pulse and it moved me to contact her family to offer my help.

Since then I've been working with Johnia Berry's brother and mother to create a new site to help find her killer. We're unveiling the site today at JohniaBerry.org.

Next Tuesday, December 6, is the one year anniversary of her death. We're trying to get as much media coverage as possible right now to draw attention to the case. Our hope is that someone who knows something about the crime will come forward, or that someone will recognize the killer from the composite sketch.

If you're in the media, or know someone who is, please contact me. Johnia's brother and mother are available for interviews.

If you have a Web site, I'd really appreciate a link to JohniaBerry.org. You can help even more by including the suspect's composite sketch. Copy and paste the HTML below to include the pictures on your site.

Thanks, guy. I appreciate it.

BTW, if you liked Deliverance, there's a non-fiction book you'd enjoy - Jeff Cooper's Another Country. Part of the book covers a kayak (or was it canoe?) trip he and a couple of his friends took in Mexico in the fifties or sixties. It was pretty dangerous stuff.

That book turned out to be a tough find. Checked for it locally but no go. Finally fount it at Amazon. Looking forward to it.

DEAR GOVERNOR BREDESEN:

RECENTLY (THIS PAST MEMORIAL WEEKEND) MY WIFE AND I WERE VISTING GATLINBURG (WE ARE FROM OHIO). I BELIEVE IT WAS ON THE 25TH OF MAY WE WERE IN DOWNTOWN KNOXVILLE AND CAME UPON A VERY DISTURBING STORY, THE UNSOLVED JOHNIA BERRY MURDER.WE SIGNED A PETITION TO ALLOW AMERICA’S MOST WANTED TO COME IN AND DO A STORY ON THIS CASE.MY QUESTION AS A FATHER OF 3 CHILDREN (AND ALSO A GRANDFATHER OF 3) WOULD THIS POOR FAMILY HAVE TO GO TO THIS EXTENT, TO CATCH THEIR DAUGHTER’S KILLER??????.
WHY WOULD THE SHERRIFF NOT WELCOME AMW’S HELP WITH OPEN ARM’S ??????.THIS ONE SHOW COULD OPEN UP HUNDRED’S OF NEW LEADS IN THIS CASE, YOU HAVE GOT TO KNOW THAT A PROGRAM LIKE THIS IS ABLE TO REACH MORE PEOPLE, IN IT’S FIFTEEN OR SO MINUTE’S OF AIR TIME, THAN KNOXVILLE’S INVESTIGATOR’S WOULD BE ABLE TO REACH IN THEIR LIFETIME, THAT IS BY NO MEAN’S A KNOCK ON KNOXVILLE’S INVESTIGATOR’S, BUT A REALITY.UNTIL THAT WEEKEND I HAD HEARD NOTHING ABOUT THIS CASE, BUT I AS AN AMERICAN, AND FATHER MYSELF, WAS APPALLED BY WHAT I HEARD, THAT THE SHERRIFF DID NOT WANT AMW’S HELP. WOULD HE WANT THERE HELP IF IT WERE LOOKING FOR THE SOMEONE THAT HAD MURDERED HIS DAUGHTER OR SON.I UNDERSTAND IT IS AN ELECTION YEAR FOR HIM, IS HE TRYING TO BE A HERO, THIS IS NOT A TIME FOR THAT BUT IS A TIME FOR GIVING THIS FAMILY SOME CLOSURE TO THIS HORRIBLE STORY.CAN YOU HELP THIS FAMILY ALLOW THIS SHERRIFF TO OPEN UP HIS ARM’S FOR HELP.

THANK YOU SIR,
MIKE KLEIN

Why can't AMW or 60 Minutes,48 Hours come to Knoxville and investigate the reason the sheriffs dept and the DA won't ask for help?
