It is clear from the evidence presented so far that there are several people, starting with her roommate, who have some idea who killed her. I am thoroughly disgusted with her neighbors who would not open their doors or call for help while she was dying. The people who know something or anything about what happened and have remained silent this long could not face enough retribution in an eternity in Hell. The roommate can not face enough retribution in an eternity in Colorado.

I'm not sure whether the killer or his silent accomplices deserve less regard. At least the killer's silence is self-serving. The silence of his accomplices is only self-serving to the extent that they are moronic cowards. If you know someone is a killer and you can't figure out a way to turn him in or exact revenge, there is no grade of worm food too low for the physical matter pretending to house your soul.

I don't know if the roommate knows anything more than he's telling or not. That's the part of the case where the greatest uncertainty lies.

I do know there was definitely a third person in the apartment that night, based on the DNA evidence recovered from the killer's blood trail.

Couldn't the killer be the roomate?

DO you know why they turned down the America's Most Wanted offer?

He could be, but the blood and DNA evidence shows there was a third person there.

Everyone automatically suspects the roommate, and who knows, maybe he knows more than he's telling, but any theory has to explain the third blood trail along with the CDs in the living room and the car stereo on the back porch. The CDs and stereo sound more like the fruits of an earlier robbery.

There's a comment over at Johniaberry.org from someone who still lives in that neighborhood. She says there is lots of crime, burglaries, and break-ins. Brendon Park where Berry lived is nice, but Warren House, which is the apartment complex right across the street from Berry's apartment, is very run down. (The commentor also says it's Section 8 subsidized housing, though I haven't confirmed that.)

I'm not sure why the sheriff's office turned down AMW. I do know it was the sheriff's decision, not the family's.

There's one other thing that in my mind tends to exonerate the roommate of the stabbing. Johnia was brutally stabbed multiple times. Whoever did it would have been covered in her blood. If it had been Jason it seems like it would have been pretty easy for the sheriff's office to make him as the killer.
