Instapundit has started a Carnival of Digital Cameras. There are ever more encouraging things being said about the Panasonic Lumix FZ5, which is what I've got my eye on. It's $330 for a 5MP camera with a large, 12X Leica lens with electronic image stabilization, and all the reviews are glowing.

water proof and 4.3 megs. if they come out with a version more megapixels, i probably will get one.

In the circle of kids I hang with, there's a tradition of Chain-Digicam-Handmedowns.

Friend A gets a new piccie-taker, and hands their old camera down to Friend B, who passes their current rig on to me, and I gift Friend C with mine...

Can I brag that my current Nikon Coolpix 990 takes swell gun pics because Oleg gave it to me? :)

That seems like a good tradition. If Oleg Volk ever gave me a camera I would definitely never clean the lens for fear of losing Oleg's magic touch.
