Guns > Speer Snubnose Revolver Ammo

Technical specs and expansion tests for Speer's ammo that was designed for short-barreled revolvers. It was originally formulated for .38 Special, but they're introducing the ammo for other calibers under the SB (for Short Barrel) name. I've been carrying the FBI load (158 grain lead semi-wadcutter hollow point), but I'm about ready to switch.

Do a web search for Florida Bullet. They had a good deal on 50 round boxes of the Speer 135 SB load awhile back. IIRC, it was $15 a box of 50. I picked up four boxes.

Right now I'm also shooting the 158 Gr "FBI" load, but I may switch as well. I just need to shoot the Speer stuff a little more to get a feel for the recoil and check POA/POI at various ranges. One think I like about the 158 stuff is that it's dead nuts on out to about 25 yards.

Btw, I'm using a Smith 65 with a 3" tube for my carry gun with those FBI loads.

The Buffalo Bore 158 gr. L.S.W.C.H.P.--G.C. (1,000fps/M.E. 351 ft.lbs.) blows this away.
Forgive the pun ;)
BTW velocities are taken from S&W J frame revolvers with 2 inch barrels. The powders are flash suppressed. This is the terrific SOFT lead semi wad cutter hollow cavity bullet.

Trebor: that's a smokin' deal on that ammo. Thanks.

timmy: Cool. That is a hot load.

I have an 11oz. scandium j-frame that I load with Speer 135gr +P Gold dots. I like the fact that the bullets were designed especially for this application and I also like the flash-suppressant powder.
