March 10, 2006Tech > Have You Tried Windows XP ClearType? The other week I enabled ClearType on my work computer, and now I'm hooked. I'm sort of shocked at how good it makes onscreen text look. Here's how to enable it, and here's a Microsoft tool for fine-tuning the settings for your monitor. Posted by lesjones | TrackBackComments
I like it. Makes those blogs with black background and light text easier on the eyes ;) Posted by: SayUncle at March 09, 2006BTW, that tool to fine tune doesn't work for me. It tells me i have to enable it even though it already is. Posted by: SayUncle at March 09, 2006Oddly enough, I think it really is more effective with light text on dark backgrounds. Did you download the tool? The one that acted like it was going to run on the Web site didn't work for me, either. Posted by: Les Jones at March 10, 2006Wow, it does make a difference! I didn't even know that setting existed. At some point, I'm going to have to sit down for a few days and just go through every setting Windows XP has. It's on my todo list right after cleaning all the gutters on the house. Posted by: rich at March 10, 2006I like it! After replacing my humongo CRT monitor with an LCD a couple of months ago, I was really disappointed with the text rendering. This makes it better. Posted by: Ben at March 13, 2006The tool, like anything else accessed directly from microsoft.com, will only work if you are using explorer. Posted by: Laughingdog at May 16, 2008Post a comment
