I mentioned in a post on wild animals that my friend Tyson survived a bear attack. In response to a recent question in comments I did some Googling for more information about the attack, and discovered this detailed report written contemporaneouslyby the Boundary Waters Journal.
Tyson's a tough, positive guy and tended to shrug things off. (One time not long after this happened I asked him if he wanted to do something on Friday. He said yes, and then immediately said he thought he had something else Friday. Oh, yeah, he remembered. He had surgery Friday.) He played everything down instead of playing it up. Reading a detailed account for the first time, I was a little disturbed to find out that the bear attack sounded much worse than I had thought.
