You and I don't agree on this one Les.Plame could have been murdered, like the CIA employee killed when a madman attacked the CIA HQ in Langley a few years back. Cheney, Rove, etc etc let their politics get in the way of their humanity..and I hope they become wiser and a whole lot poorer in their wallets after this is over... Posted by: ANGRYWOLF at July 17, 2006You're assuming an awful lot. I just hashed this out in comments at another site last weekend, but here's the short version: There have been a lot of claims about what the Bush administration did and what was said, but the facts haven't borne those things out, which is why Rove and those guys haven't been indicted, and why Fitzgerald is finished with them. According to Novak, his source only told Novak that Wilson's wife worked for the CIA in the context of "that's how he got the job." Source never told Novak her name, and for all I know didn't even know her name, and didn't know she would be considered undercover. (She had not been overseas for five years.) Novak says Rove said something that he took as confirming that Wilson's wife was in the CIA. Again, he never gave Novak Plame's name and may not have known it. Novak says he got Valerie Plame's name from Joe Wilson's entry in "Who's Who in America," an entry he authorized. If a person is truly concerned about covert operations and covert personnel being revealed, it seems like they'd be a lot more concerned about the NY Times story that revealed a secret, ongoing, international CIA program and showed pictures of the plane involved along with the plane's identification number, the name of the charter company involved, and other details. Posted by: Les Jones at July 17, 2006as far as Plame is concerned, you don't have to be overseas to be murdered...as the CIA EMPLOYEE WHO WAS MURDERED AT LANGLEY CAN TESTIFY TO..IF THEY WERE ALIVE TO DO SO...the fact that she was outed by Aldridge Ames, used for an excuse by Robert Novak on a recent interview is a specious excuse as Muslim terrorists don't have to be told by the KGB who CIA employees are to murder them, they can just read Novak's column... as far as the claim Wilson outed his wife in Who's Who, if you read the blub it only says he is married to her and their wedding date, it doesn't say she is a CIA employee. "the fact that she was outed by Aldridge Ames" And you're 100% sure about that fact? Based on what? For instance, how do you know it's not Richard Armitage? My point being, a lot of people have pretended to know a lot of facts that weren't. "I don't know what story in the NYT you are referring to" The one I linked to. "As far as redentions, kidnapping alleged terrorists and using covert CIA flights to take them to secret prisons where they are tortured...there's no proof that has benefitted us in any way." And of course you know for a fact that's exactly what was happening. Anyway, the point isn't whether or not the program was effective. The point was that it endangered the lives of those CIA agents, who were undercover and who were operating overseas. Yet no one who is upset about Plame is upset about the NY Times revealing critical details of that secret CIA program.
