Blogging > This Blog's Not Dead

I's just sleepin'. Unlike me.

I had three bad, interrupted, unsatisfying night's sleep this week. Then Friday morning I got a 5:30 am call from my mom, who lives in a mother-in-law apartment attached to our house.

She needed help, and after talking to her we decided she needed to go to the ER. For that, I'm more than willing to give up sleep.

Her blood pressure spiked Tuesday when she got her second Lucentis injection, but they didn't take her to the ER. At her doctor's appointment Thursday she seemed OK, but they gave her a new medicine (Lexapro) for her nerves.

I checked her BP and it was a little high at 140 over 90. At the ER it was 206 over 120. That eventually came down some, but was still high. I was surprised they discharged her. (And I wonder if the home BP cuff is accurate. Also, If we have to take her back to the ER we're taking her somewhere other than Blount Memorial.) I got home around 2:00 and crashed. My brother is staying over there tonight. As of 11:00 pm she seemed OK.

So I'm still here, just not fully functional until I get some sleep.

Get one of those old-fashioned BP cuffs that uses a column of mercury to measure the pressure. They are always calibrated - the weight of mercury never changes.
