October 31, 2006A&E > More About "Convoy"After this post I was listening to "Convoy" and wasn't sure what Shakytown was, and I kind of wondered since Jackson Brown has a song by that name. That lead to the "Convoy" Wikipedia entry. I didn't realize "Convoy" was telling a story about a truck driver revolution. A disjointed, shaggy dog story, but a story all the same. Pretty sure Shakeytown is San Fran. Ya know, earthquakes and all? Posted by: 3yellowdogs at October 31, 2006The one other song by C.W. McCall was about coming down the road off of Wolf Creek Pass. That feed store in Pagosa Springs really does get hit every now and again. The other memorable thing about Convoy is that the backup band has stuck around and produced other records. Would you believe - Mannheim Steamroller! In fact, they released a remake recently. Posted by: triticale at October 31, 2006Bonus! Earl and his sidekick sang the song tonight on My Name is Earl.
