Word of the Day > Word of the Day - Dysgeusia

Combing through my unfinished 2006 blog posts I found this excellent word from SayUncle:

Since I’m no longer smoking, I’m experiencing Dysgeusia, which means that my sense of taste is changing. Dysgeusia can be caused as a side effect of the medication Chantix (which I am taking and recommend for quitting smoking) and as a result of quitting smoking in general.

According to that second link it's pronounced "dis-GOOZ-ee-a."

Good for you, I quit smoking some time ago, it was very hard. Seeing that it was the days before nicorete and all of these other meds to help. I had to go cold turkey. I was not a pleasent person for the next month or two. But I wish ya the best of luck in stopping that habbit. Have a good new year.

I brought home a six pack of beer one night and was shocked that it tasted terrible. I took it back to the store and they refunded my money. I went to a different store, bought another six pack of the same thing.

It tasted terrible, too. That's when I remembered I had just started a new medication. As soon as I went off the medicine beer tasted good again.

Sounds like you should have stayed on the medicine.
