Tech > Verizon Motorola RAZR Deal

Melissa has been needing a new cell. Hers was so ancient it still ran on leaded gas. I had go under the head once a year to change the points. The antenna had broken off years ago. The old battery died, and had been replaced. The new battery was held on with clear duct tape.

Plus, she wanted to switch to Verizon, which her dad and I have. Verizon-to-Verizon calls are free, which would save us all mucho minutes. We also like the Family Share Plan, which will let us pool our minutes.

Wal-Mart has a deal with a Motorola RAZR and Bluetooth headset for 28 bucks. It's only for new signups, though, so it wouldn't help me. Which is fine, since I had a relatively new cameraphone. Our philosophy on cell phones is to run them until they drop, or we drop them, whichever comes first.

Then we saw the Verizon deal for two RAZRs for $49, and they don't care whether you're a new or existing customer. Melissa called Verizon and talked them into matching the Wal-mart deal with Bluetooth headsets and all, even though I'm not a new customer. She even got them to make hers pink and mine silver. The lady can bargain.

Today and Monday are the last days for the Verizon offer.

Bonus! - The RAZR takes much better photos than my current cellphone, judgiing from this gallery (via Insty's Carnival of Digital Cameras). If you're not happy with the photorealism of your cameraphone pictures you can always go the other way and use software to make them more abstract.

And the best camera is the one you have with you. I got a photo of the Gallatin tornado last April only because I had my cell phone (RAZR) with me.
