December 04, 2006Misc > Lock BumpingThis makes me a whole lot less trusting of locks. Watch the YouTube video at that link to see how easily conventional locks can be defeated. Posted by lesjones | TrackBackComments
Anyone that thinks locks are for more than "keeping an honest man honest" is Naive at best. The only truly secure system is one that is completely inaccessible and is, thereby, useless. If a lock can be opened, it can be defeated. Some more simply and easily than others...you get what you pay for...but none are a guarantee of security. This is an important life lesson for more than just padlocks and entry doors. "Security is mostly superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. To keep our faces toward change and behave like free spirits in the presence of fate is strength undefeatable." Good write up... There's a little forum at http://www.bumpkeyforum.com where this is the whole topic... bump keys and lock bumping. Posted by: John Davenport at December 25, 2006Post a comment
