Word of the Day > Word of the Day: Ceteris Paribus

ceteris paribus - Latin for "other things being the same." Ceteris and the cetera in "et cetera" are from the same Latin root word for "other things."

Often paraphrased as "all else being equal."

ah yes, economy. through the few (very basic-level) classes i took in it, i became inured to the knowledge that whenever the textbook said "ceteris paribus", i could rest assured that all else would not remain equal in anything vaguely like reality.

and don't get me started on my fear and loathing of "marketing", either...
