Tech > Email Icon Generator

lesjonesgmail.png

This is a little gem of a Web application. Enter your email address for dozens of popular ISPs and email services and it generates a colorful icon of your email address. Spam harvesters can snag plain text email addresses and add them to spamming databases, but they can't read graphics. If you don't have a place to upload images Nexodyne will even host it for you. Brilliant.

Of course, they don't really need to harvest your e-mail address now that you've gone and helpfully typed it right into their database for them.

Come on, do you really have any reason to believe Nexodyne is a spam harvester?

That is cool...thanks!

Well, it is possible to read text from an image, that's why captchas are so distorted. I suppose it depends on the likelihood of spam harvesters being able to quickly judge every picture to see if it has an email address.

I dunno, I put in my e-mail address, and the icon looked like it would if I opened MS Paint, typed in my address, and saved as a .jpg/.bmp/.png.

With the possible exception of the "comcast" being written to incorporate the Comcast logo.

Like I want to give them a plug on my blog. I'm paying them.
