Misc > Deathbed Confession: Aliens at Roswell

A former Roswell PR officer confessed in a posthumously-released affidavit to covering up aliens and alien spacecraft at the New Mexico military base. Via Slashdot.

According to someone in comments, the confessor in this case just happens to have owned a UFO museum, so he would seem to have a financial incentive to keep interest in Roswell alive.

Time and technology have not helped UFO believers. Back in the day when only the U.S. and USSR had space programs people argued that the two countries were colluding to keep the lid on UFOs. That argument doesn't work now that many countries have space programs and many more have extensive radar systems and satellites. (You'd think a flying saucer would have shown up on Google Maps by now.)

The proliferation of digital cameras and inexpensive movie cameras should be giving us more evidence of alien activity, but that hasn't happened.

THere was a dude on the radio yesterday who said he was an air force pilot. he said he saw something out his window (UFO) and described it a bit. then he said he was asked by his superiors if he wanted to file a report. he declined. he said in the air force if you file such a report, you're grounded. forever.

I don't believe we have been visited by extraterrestrial aliens. That is not to say that life from other worlds is not possible. It is possible. But the question is, is it probable?

For a good primer check out:

Brin shows that elves, fairies, trolls, and aliens have a lot in common. The most common denominator is that they come from human imagination.

Be a skeptic. It is the basis for all science.
