A&E > "Stoners are cute; junkies are sad."

I had no idea actor Jason Mewes (Jay of Jay and Silent Bob) was addicted to drugs for so many years until I read Kevin Smith's amazing and honest account. All together it's a long read, but worth it. It pretty much tells the story of many drug addicts and the people who try to help them (and who can wind up enabling them, as Smith eventually realizes). Parts 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9.

UPDATE: Chris Byrne has a post about drug rehab and the odds of success. When my sister first got on drugs (well, the first time after high school) I was naive enough to think that rehab was to drug addiction what antibiotics were to an infection. Turns out it doesn't work that way. Antibiotics work whether you want them to or not, and no one intentionally goes out and reinfects themselves.

Haven't you seen any of his movies? How could you not know? =P

I know you're kidding, but oddly enough he wasn't on drugs during the movies (mostly). He was on drugs between the movies when he had money and nothing to do.

Here's a website you may find useful. http://www.addicted.com is a site for friends, families, and those who suffer from various addictions.
