A&E > TV Blogging - Big Bang Theory, The Unit, Family Guy Star Wars Episode

The Big Bang Theory
So I couldn't figure out where I knew the Sheldon character from, so Melissa Googled it. He's Jim Parsons, who played Tim the Fast Food Knight in Garden State. He's great as a super nerdy guy with a hot next door neighbor.

Melissa also told me without Googling that the Leonard character is Johnny Galecki who was David on "Roseanne."

The Unit
This is old, but new to me. The action got me to sit down for a minute to watch it, and the story and acting is pretty good. Created by David Mamet (Glengarry Glen Ross, The Edge, Ronin) and produced by Shawn Ryan ("The Shield"). It's on the TiVo Season Pass Manager now.

Family Guy Star Wars Episode (Blue Harvest 1 and 2)
This was just short of awesome - a one hour parody and recreation of the entire Star Wars Episode IV from beginning to end. Some of it was pointless and indulgent (it's Family Guy after all), but worth it for the good bits.

"I'm Han Solo, captain of the Millennium Falcon and the only actor whose career wasn't destroyed by this movie."

"Aren't you a little fat for a stormtrooper?"
"Stay here and die you stuck-up bitch."

When the squad leaders report in before the attack raid on the Death Star there's Red Leader, Redd Foxx, Big Red chewing gum, and Sean Connery reporting in for Hunt for Red October.

- Every Family Guy reference to Star Wars
- What is Blue Harvest?

Here's the opening crawl:

It is a time of civil war, and renegade paragraphs floating through space.

There's cool space battles, and the bad guy is the good guy's dad, but you don't find that out 'til the next episode.

And the hot chick is really the sister of the good guy, but they don't know it, and they kiss. Which is kind of messed up. I mean, what if they had done it instead of just kissed?

Angelina Jolie kissed her brother once. Yeah, she did. You know it, I know it, and her dad knows it. That's why they hardly ever talk anymore. You can run away to Africa, but you can't run away from the truth.

Oh, by the way, here's a tip for you: when this is over, go out and rent the movie "Gia." She's way naked in it and makes out with another chick and everything. It's awesome. I stumbled across it late night on HBO after I had just got back from hockey, and I almost fainted, But I digest...

Princess Leia was coming back from buying space groceries when this happened...

Generaly speaking, I'm not a big family guy fan (theres no show there, its just an extended series of scatological jokes, single entendre and pop culture references); but this one was funny as hell.

Family Guy would be a lot better if they were just more disciplined. Futurama had the same problem sometimes with just doing random bit and non-sequitors, but nowhere near as bad as FG.

The Unit is a Great show, one of the best on TV. The big Bang Theory sucked Ass & the Family Guy is an awful excuse of a show. period.

Watched The Unit again last night and really liked it. I could never get into 24 because the story just didn't draw me in, but The Unit does it for me.

I thought Big Bang Theory was pretty cute. I don't know if they can keep the nerd jokes rolling forever, but it was OK.
