Two weeks ago we visited the Maple Lane Farms corn maze in Greenback, TN. It was lots of fun for us and the kids both.

The corn maze is $8 for adults, $6 for kids age 6-11. The maze takes about an hour. Very short helicopter rides are $20. Hay rides are $2. The last hayride leaves an hour before sundown.

From October 18 through Halloween the maze is haunted. The really scary thing is listening to me singing "Katie's Got Corn and I Don't Care" in this YouTube video, in which Katie reveals An Important Lesson About Corn.

Hey, did you know that the weird corn picture is actually a food delicacy called huitlacotche(wheet-la-coat-chay)? It is prized in Mexican cooking and dates back to the Aztecs.It is almost like a truffle or other gourmet mushroom and there are lots of recipes for it.

My Dad has always just called it Corn Smut, a common fungal disease. This year several people asked if they could search his corn fields for this delicacy and they would pay him for every ear of corn they took. You just never know, do you?
