My wife and I are taking a team approach to the subject of teaching our three year old about bad words. My wife's job is teaching Katie that some words are bad and we don't say them. My job is to teach Katie what all those bad words are.

The other day I accidentally kicked the dog bowl. Bad words were said. Then Katie goes to Melissa. "Mommy, daddy said 'F***ing dog bowl.' 'F***' is a bad word."

Crap. Is there some trick to not cussing?

I started saying fricken, but then my said fricken on the playground at school and told the teacher thats what his dad always said.

Teacher told my wife, and alas, that one is now on my banned bad word list. But it doesn't matter, he goes to a private religious school and Fricken and f**king pale in comparison to the daily does of Jesus H. Christ and Gad Damn It I launch around the house.

I'm Irish, we use "fuck" as punctuation fer chrissakes.

My wife has asked me in the past to try not to swear around the kids, but it just sorta comes out. At this point I don't so much say "fuck" all the time as I do "Fuck.. oh, sorry".

She specifically mentioned it earlier today when our youngest daughter (4) spoke the phrase "Jesus fucking christ".

Well... at least it wasn't in church.
