Katie was smitten by a boy in her pre-school class.

Did I say smitten? I meant bitten. Bitten by a boy. A boy in Katie's preschool class bit her.

The teachers say Katie was playing with a toy truck. The boy tried to take it away from her, she wouldn't let him, and he bit her. Apparently most of the girls give in, but Katie stood up for herself.

This isn't the first time Katie's been bitten by another kid. Kids at a certain age go around biting each other like rabid raccoons and you just have to teach them not to. Katie's bitten her sister, and my wife was almost relieved it was Katie getting bitten instead of the other way around.

The boy's dad apologized to my mother-in-law when she picked up the kids, and his mother called later and apologized to my wife. No hard feelings, and the bite stopped short of breaking the skin. Katie, being Katie, put her hands on her hips when it was all over and lectured the boy, saying "Your daddy's gonna be mad. You'll have to got time out and go to bed."
